Renewing Mercies…A Little Each Day

Starting over from scratch…sorta

What Are You Doing New Years Eve?

Once upon a time I spent New Years Eve in New York City.  I mean I had fun with Kim looking for everyone we were supposed to have met up with, but overall in terms of how the movies present it, it wasn’t like the movies.  Last year (2011) was kind of a big let down for me in terms of New Year’s Eve.  This time around, I had no big expectations of popping the bubbly at midnight and kissing my husband.  I opened a bottle of champagne when my kids went down for the night at 7:00ish pm, stuffed myself with less than spectacular pastries while watching the movie New Year’s Eve…and was in bed by 10:30.

I consider New Years resolutions.  I am not a goal maker, mostly because when I have been instructed to make goals, they are often too lofty to attain and then I just look at the list and feel like crap.  So this year, I would like to make some goals for myself, but, within my power and within reason.  So, here goes…

Lea’s New Year’s Goals for 2013

  • Keep losing weight, journal food again.
  • Spend more time with people I love.  Don’t feel obligated to spend time with people that drain me.
  • Sweep the floor.
  • Hang things on the walls.
  • Only wear clothes that look great on me, unless I’m working out.
  • Learn to love the dog.
  • Stop keeping things that aren’t needed or loved.  Start with the kids stuff.
  • Avoid running out of paper towels
  • Coupon better
  • Follow through
  • Don’t over commit
  • Have pretty feet
  • Paint the dining room and living room…or have someone who’s good at it do it

I think that’s fair, don’t you?  Of course, looking at it I now wonder who thinks they’re a drain on me.  Perhaps it was unwise to post it.  Sweep the floor? I generally vacuum the whole thing, tile, carpet, etc…but the dog is just shedding so much and dirt coming in from outside is making me think I should be breaking out the broom as well.  Pretty feet? I cannot stomach the prices for pedicures in this town…and my feet are looking pretty awful because of it.  I miss the $35 mani-pedis down the street from my moms house, so so much.

Another goal, to blog more, with less complaining and more pictures.  We shall see.  We shall see.  In the meanwhile…here’s a fun family pic that made the christmas card, but not FB.

Learn to love the dog! Ha :) I’ll believe when I see it. And Pretty feet – please join me for $20 peds at the shops at Briargate. I love them – you will too. I, too, am releasing people in my life who neither pursue me or are necessary to my life. Good on you. :D

Learn to love the dog! That made me laugh! Why do we have animals?? I feel the same way. It sounds like you are hard core with your workouts going through Nikes as fast as you did! Way to go friend. You are just melting away!

As for paper towels, I have a tip that maybe you’ll find handy ooooor you’ll hate it. I still buy paper towels but not too often maybe one 6 pack every other month. What I do is I buy a few HUGE stacks of white wash cloths. You can get like 12 for $6 at Target. I use them instead of the paper towels on the most part and I have a little bucket I keep in the laundry room and just toss them in there when they are dirty. Every other day or maybe even every third day I’ll throw the load of white wash cloths into the washer with a little bleach and detergent and viola! New reusable paper towels. They work better and are more absorbent. I only use paper towels for stuff like wiping down toilets with 409 or something. I wouldn’t want to reuse those. :p That and a few little things here and there.

I want to get pretty feet with you guys!! :)
